Focuser training – strength, precision and reflexes in motion
Focuser training is an effective method in WingTsun training to improve the power of strikes, accuracy, speed and responsiveness. Training takes place in pairs – one holds special striking pads (focusers), the other performs targeted strikes and combinations. Such training simulates real combat situations and helps develop control over distance and correct timing of movements.
Advantages of such training:
- Improving punching power and technical execution
- Development of speed and coordination
- Strengthening responsiveness and adaptive capacity
- Safe practice of attacking combinations without the risk of injury
Examples of strikes in WingTsun training with focusers:
- Straight punch (Chain Punch): rapid, consecutive punches in a straight line
- Palm strike (Palm Punch): an effective blow or thrust with the palm to sensitive areas
- Elbow strikes: short, powerful strikes from distance to close range
- Side swing (Hook Punch): A circular blow to the chin or ribs
- Upward punch (Uppercut): a blow from below upwards to the chin or body
- Overhand Punch: a powerful blow from above and below
- Direct strikes with advancement: a combination of striking and forward movement
Focuser training encourages the use of WingTsun techniques in a dynamic environment and optimally prepares students for realistic self-defense situations.
